Key features of LARX carbon film

LARX Carbon Films are a type of electric resistance heating. It has an energy efficiency of 99 %. Its operation requires no maintenance and the consumption-related costs are considerably lower than with currently used technologies (by approximately 20 %). It has high variability of use due to its small thickness and undemanding installation (no boilers, heaters or pipes. It can be used as a primary or secondary source of heat. Carbon films are local type of hating – the heat is made directly where it is needed.

Heating system is usually designed with separate circuit and thermostat for each room. Switching element of thermostat is a power relay, the regulation is therefore done as 0/1 (on or off). Thermostat must be suitable for electric underfloor heating and must have floor temperature sensor.

The carbon film is very thin, it is unnoticeable in the floor composition. Installation throughout the whole room ensures uniform whole-surface floor heating. Large gaps between strips of film are not recommended as they cause uncomfortable alternation of hot and cold spots. The film is not installed under built-in furniture and fixtures. We recommend installing under furniture, that have at least 5 cm legs.

Design procedure

  • 1. Choice of installation method - under screed, floorboards or directly under the flooring
  • 2. Calculation of room heat losses
  • 3. Preparation of the laying plan including thermostat positions
  • 4. Carbon film performance design - division into circuits, eventually strengthening circuits in large rooms
  • 5. Calculation of control resistors - after installation we recommend to measure the resistance of each circuit and compare it with the calculation, further check the function of heating by thermocamera
  • 6. Design of switchboard installation, main circuit breaker dimensions and other elements

We will be happy to provide support for the correct installation of our heating system. If you are not sure about heat loss or heating design, please contact us.

In case of your interest we will prepare a complete heating project with all calculations of heat losses and heating outputs after paying the fee according to the size of the building (for example, common single-storey house for CZK 10,000 without VAT). As part of the project, we will come to your site and provide you with building readiness, including a list of materials to be installed.
